From her youth in Detroit, Michigan, S.A. Gladden loved to read.  She began crafting her own stories and keeping them meticulously handwritten in a variety of notebooks, hoping to one day be the type of author who could capture the hearts and imagination of readers just the same as those she enjoyed.

Taking the fantastical elements of fantasy and melding it with reality has been her niche, and her goal is to normalize Black voices in fantasy settings, drenched in a story that is
both relatable and evocative. Her debut novel Fated to Flame is her first step into realizing that dream.

She also has a love for narrative-driven video games, and is working to adapt her story to a visual novel format with her indie game company, Candle Glow Studios.

​

Her other hobbies include listening to melodic dubstep, learning multiple languages, and dyeing her hair different colors. She lives in Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband and a big grey cat named Kimarhi.
